Types of Ghosts Part II

Hello Everyone Once again!

This is the second entry of the blog for RHS RAMP, and is the second source for us to really focus on defining paranormal aspects and defining our identity and goals for the organization.

For the Record: RAMP stands for Reading Association For Metaphysical Phenomena. This was the name that we voted on together at our last meeting, and approved by RHS administration.

Additionally I've reproduced below part of a letter that was sent to a location we will investigate. I really feel like Ghost Hunting has become Synonymous with "Bunch of Teenagers sneaking out at night" and i cannot stress enough that this is precisely what we strive not to be. We are a SCIENTIFIC organization based on obtaining SCIENTIFIC results. Please take a moment to Read this.

RAMP follows very strict procedures during an investigation, based solely on the academic advancement of the researchers and application of the Scientific Method. We stress the importance of gathering “good” data and conducting a thorough investigation in the fairest, most vigilant way possible. It is our belief, as Galileo says, that “all truths are easy to understand once they are discovered, the point is to discover them.” RAMP is dedicated to a scientifically enriched and academically driven method of acquiring information. In this “hands-on”, creative, and unique opportunity, we are learning, first and foremost, about science.

Now we continue to define some aspects of RAMP, specifically in Ghosts.

Ectoplasmic Mist: Typically believed to be a human entity. Its very spirit-like in behavior. Typically this is caught on film and photo, and is very rarely seen in person. The fact that this avoidance occurs suggests that it is an intelligent entity rather than a residual one. Usually misty and white, its most likely not malevolent, as evil entities tend to be more concrete and human shaped.

*** It is easy to mistake natural things like fog and mist to be ectoplasmic mist. This is also a prime reason smoking on an investigation is frowned upon.

Vortex: Much the same as Ectoplasmic Mist, except much more lively. Many of the same theories exist as to what they actually are.

Shadow Ghosts: My personal favorite, these entities are human and intelligent. Fortunately, they are typically ambivalent, and never mean any harm. They often appear as odd shadows in photographs, or seen darting out of the corner of ones eyes. If you ever get the feeling you're being watched but can's spot who or what is transfixed upon you, it could be one of these spectral beings.

Apparitions, full body spirit: The full bodied apparition of a spirit or ghost, whether it be human or inhuman. Sometimes these appear as disembodied, with a missing head or limb, but they are generally together. Apparitions are EXTREMELY rare and are a ghost hunter's dream.

Poltergeist: An intelligent haunt classified by its mischief in the physical world, such as throwing furniture.

Types of Ghosts

Welcome to the first ever RHS-RAMP Blog!!!

Its hard to believe that fall is actually upon us, and with fall comes Thanksgiving, and Labor Day, and most importantly, Halloween. It is a fact that Fall also brings about the best time of year for ghosting. Maybe ghosts despise the heat of summer, or maybe they don't like the cold of winter. Maybe they don't like flowers of springtime. One thing is for certain, however... and that is that it is our mission to understand the paranormal.

Why do Scientists conduct experiments? To Learn things. To understand things. We have to apply this to the paranormal. During our investigations we're going to learn together, grow together, and apply science together. Because of that, I've created this Blog.

First I will list quite a few things here and define them for you, this is so we know what to look for and what they are when we find them. Note, however, that nobody knows for sure 100% what these phenomena are, we can only assume. In the interest of science, however, we should all have common definitions.

TYPES OF GHOSTS

Residual Haunt- This type of Haunt is the most common classification. When an individual leaves a psychic imprint on a certain setting it is known as a Residual Haunt. Often times, apparitions will be seen opening doors that don't exist, or running around a location repeatedly. These are psychic replays, and a defining characteristic of a residual haunt.

Intelligent Haunt- This Haunt has the unique ability to react. During an investigation, a researcher may ask questions using an EMF device or a voice recorder, when the entity responds clearly to the researcher, the haunt is then classified as intelligent. This is almost 100% of the time a human entity. Amusingly, other ways an intelligent haunt communicates include: hurling things such as shoes, dishes, laundry, at a person who is in sheer terror. Hiding his/her keys from them, moving things around, flashing lights, etc.

Demonic Haunt- The only type of haunt we will not deal with. This entity is not human but is intelligent and is believed to be dangerous if encountered. That said, the chances of encountering this haunt are very, very, very, low.

Ghost Hunt- Going to a specific location with no records of paranormal activity with the intention of capturing one on film or camera.

Ghost Investigation- Going to a specific location with records of paranormal activity and using proper scientific techniques to gather data to prove/disprove the location's reputation.

Orbs- The most photogenic of all entities. These orbs are often caught on film in high numbers when activity is high. An orb is the result of a ghost or spirit drawing energy from the earth's Electromagnetic Field. They are invisible to the naked eye, but often appear on camera.

*There are 3 classifications that define an orb. They 1. Are near-perfectly spherical in shape. 2. They have a clearly defined flight path. 3. Must emit its own light.
